We’re celebrating YE student mindset-shift moments and everyday successes with our Student of the Month award. Congratulations to this month’s winner, Kaitlyn Gutierrez of Mission Heights Preparatory High School in Casa Grand, Ariz.! Learn more about Kaitlyn from her YE educator and nominator, Amanda Mace.

The Foundational Value Kaitlyn exemplifies: “Passion. She knows what she wants and goes for it full speed.” Amanda has known Kaitlyn since freshman year and describes her as a visionary and planner. “YE helped mold Kaitlyn into what she is today, and it has kept her focused and driven on her goals. She also loves helping people.”

How she goes above and beyond: “Kaitlyn does so well in school, plus she’s involved in so many extracurriculars. She is disciplined — she is student body president, juggles home life, YE, Spirit of Leona winner and has a thriving social life. I don’t know how she does it all!”

A mindset shift moment: “I think one of Kaitlyn’s mindset shift moments was the state speech competition her senior year. She found out just one week before, and then she competitive and went on to win. She realized she could make an impact and have a voice.”

Words to describe Kaitlyn: “Driven. Humble. Bold. Courage. Valuable.”
